Hong
Kong International Airport (formerly Kai Tak Airport)
is situated in Kowloon. Cathay Pacific is the national
carrier. The airport is serviced by most major international
airlines.
Hong Kong will open its new airport at Chek Lap Kok for operations on July
6, 1998. It is aiming to be the world's most modern and confirm Hong Kong's
role as the aviation hub of Asia Pacific.

Airport Facilities
Duty-free
stores, specialty shops, restaurants, snack bars, a bank,
a post office, Hong Kong Telecoms office, a police station,
and a chapel.
Reception
rooms, VIP lounges and left-luggage service are also
in the same building. International Direct Dial (IDD)
payphones are available throughout the airport.
The
arrival level provides access to taxis, airport buses,
and hotel transportation services. Luggage trolleys are
provided free of charge and free porter service is available
at the Porter Desk.
