Economic Trends:
Brisbane, Queensland's capital city, is situated on Australia's east coast,
996km north of Sydney. Brisbaneis only one hour from Sydneyby plane and less
than one hour's drive from Queensland's famous Gold Coast.
The Brisbane City Council governs an area of 1,220km2 and has
a population of 882,259. The Brisbane metropolitan, or Greater Brisbane Area,
takes in the Brisbane City Council local government area as well as surrounding
shires and parts of surrounding cities. The Greater Brisbane Area covers 4,643km2 and
has a population of 1,626,865 people.
